How
we started
Ram's Horn Educational,
LLC was founded in 2001 by
Gary A. Robbins, Ph.D., following the success of "Expedited
Site Assessment: The CD" (ESACD). ESACD was developed by Professor
Robbins for the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.
Filled with multimedia content including video, animations and simulations,
ESACD provides cutting edge technical material for environmental professionals
in a manner that is a radical departure from paper copy technical guidance.
Although ESACD was developed for environmental professionals, students
in undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Connecticut
found the simulations and animations increased their enthusiam and
helped
improved learning. From this experience came the foundations of Ram's
Horn Educational.
Our
goal
Ram's
Horn Educational is dedicated to improving
professional and college-level environmental education through simulation.
Simulations can help improve training and education by creating an active
learning environment that provides prompt feedback, fosters efficient
use of time, encourages high expectations, and respects diverse talents.
Simulations also allow students to learn in different ways and at their
own pace. Using hands-on simulations encourages more interaction between
students and instructors and can also help in developing team approaches
in problem solving. Besides, learning using simulations is just plain
fun.
